Overview

This license is required for federal or state government agencies, statutory bodies, private organizations, and NGOs that wish to organize fireworks and pyrotechnic shows. The organizers must engage one of the 26 licensed pyrotechnic companies in Malaysia to import and conduct these shows. The pyrotechnic companies need to apply for policy approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Eligible applicants

All licensed pyrotechnic companies (26 companies) with valid field codes and licenses for fireworks and pyrotechnic shows.

Application requirements

- Company must obtain policy approval as a registered pyrotechnic operator with the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) before being allowed to import and conduct fireworks and TPE shows. - Application checklist for pyrotechnic operators includes: official application letter, company proposal, applicant's ID card, list and copies of ID cards of the pyrotechnicians, corporate information from the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM), recent bank statements for three months, fireworks storage magazine, technical specifications and images of the pyrotechnic materials to be imported, Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for the pyrotechnics, and other relevant documents. - After receiving approval as a registered pyrotechnic operator, the company will be provided with an ID for the Weapons and Explosive Management System (WEMS) to submit applications for fireworks and TPE shows. - The applicant (pyrotechnic company) must submit a complete application within seven working days from the date of the fireworks and TPE show through WEMS. - After approval, the company must obtain the Import, Export, or Transport of Explosives License (Pol.124) and the License to Sell, Possess, and Purchase Explosives and Ammunition (Pol. 123) from the relevant District Police Headquarters (IPD).
